Autumn Views...

Welcome to almost the last day of the Leafs Me Happy Blog Hop hosted by Madam Samm and Cherry, our hop cheerleader.

As of the first day of the hop, I had an idea for my block but had not started making it yet...and as blog hops are to do, I was inspired by one of the other blocks :)

So, my original plan was altered (and changed) to make room for my favorite fall poem to be added.
About the only thing that remained from the original idea is the small patchwork square borders on the top and bottom...however, even throughout this design, they were suppose to go the whole way around...but I messed up my measurements - again! They are going to start telling me 'no' when I want to join a hop because I can never seem to get an accurate block of 10.5 or 12.5! :)

I actually did some fussy cutting for the leaves to show the "Autumn Views" (as I'll name this block) of this great material I got at JoAnn's and appliqued them on.
 This wall hanging finished at 12 x 15 and fits great right where it was designed for...on my wall just to the left of my sewing machine... I LOVE Autumn!!!!!!!! and now I can 'enjoy the views' all year!

As I was using this fabric, I was also inspired to make a couple of potholders...
A pair of fall hued Granny Squares...these unfinished tops are 8 3/4 inches square...with a nice (roughly) 1 inch piece of material to each side would bring me to about 10 1/2 inch  block...but these are currently a nicer size for potholders without the border.
Amazingly, I love math and really do try to get my measurements accurate...but I guess I do it more in the construction so everything goes together well...not so much about the size of the finished project! oops...

And since this is a fall blog hop and I love fall, here are some fun family photos of our fall here...

Until I was going through the pictures, I hadn't realized how quickly it "falled"! This is our back yard on Wednesday, October 3...and just look at how many leaves and colors changed in 5 days! Not to mention the drop in temperature as well :)

Hope you are enjoying fall and to keep it going, be sure to check out these other ladies posting today...

Home Designs by Amanda - You are here! :)

I still have a handful of things ready to blog about...and not as many deadlines, so, I hope to get those things up on here soon!

 And He changeth the times and the seasons;
He removeth kings, and setteth up kings:
He giveth wisdom unto the wise,
and knowledge to them that know understanding.
Daniel 2:21

Here Daniel is praising God for revealing secrets to him. Daniel is showing that God is in control of everything...He can even change the time and seasons! It is a comfort to know that God is controlling things and allowing some circumstances to come through our lives to grow us, make us more reliant on Him, and build our faith in Him. The road sometimes seems long, but He will see us through!

PRAISE GOD for His Awesome Love for Us!

Fair Progress...

Today's post cover's current work's getting some progress done on them and a small snippet of our outing to the local fair!

I'm 'slowly' getting the HST's squared up and ready to make into blocks for a special quilt. I really need to get more time in on this one...its a generous throw size and the recipient's birthday is in the first part of September! I also have a small birthday present to make for my sister-in-law, she already had her birthday, but we aren't celebrating till Labor Day...so I really need to get working on that one too!

I also have a couple of other new projects going... one non-craft related... I'm starting our first year of home schooling on Monday. Liz is starting in Level 1 of ACE... I choose Level 1 because I believe she is ready to start learning to read...but if we have to take it a little slower at the beginning, it will be fine, since she is only 4 :)  So, I've been starting to review the lessons and setting up a school schedule.

She is also very into wanting to do crafts, aka 'sewing' :) ... so, I thought that a knitting loom would be a good start, even though I had never used one before. We purchased one for her when they were on sale a few weeks ago, but I never got it out. Then today, she received a gift from a co-worker of Chad's... a WHOLE set of looms found at a garage sale! So, we tried them out today...
(The red one was the one we purchased...the other 4 were the gift! It was such a blessing and surprise!)
So, helping her takes some time, but it's cute seeing her working on the crafts!
Both girls are definitely interested in the craft stuff...I can always get little helpers on my table :)

Liz also entered a couple of things in our local fair. Some tomatoes (no ribbon) and a embroidered 'picture' [3rd place... out of three :) but at least she got a ribbon]. She was entered against the adults for her tomatoes because she's only 4...the youth age limit was 5-12...but she did get to enter the Youth under 8 category for her embroidery.
We went up to the fair with my in-laws and had a good time seeing the ribbons we won, the animals... especially the horses, and the girls getting to ride some rides!

I'm looking ahead to fall...my favorite :) So, I decided to join the Leafs Me Happy Blog Hop...

So, I need to start working on a block, hope to update the blog for the upcoming season, and need to decorate the house soon! Hope you are having a productive week!

I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart;
I will shew forth all thy marvellous works.
I will be glad and rejoice in thee:
I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High.
Psalm 9:1-2

Starting to read through the Psalms for my daily Bible reading... Love the Psalms, especially the ones about singing! Sing a praise to God today!
