A Couple of Bags...

So, it's Friday again :) and I only have one project worked on for the week... a couple of small bags for Bibles.

I made them on Tuesday. I used my Simple bag pattern/tutorial just adjusted the measurements down for a standard Bible and pamphlet sized devotional book fit in them. They were so easy and fast...wonderful to feel like something crafty was accomplished!

Yesterday, I had some time I could have used for sewing but ended up rearranging furniture which provided me with a wider sewing area :) Definitely going to enjoy that!

After linking to some great linky parties, including Finish it up Friday at Amanda Jean's, I'm going to go be crafty :) ...if sleepiness doesn't overtake me!

Day 18 - Working Wednesday...

And boy, have I been working! Which makes today's post SUPER late...almost into tomorrow - YIKES...but I need to do one today to keep up on The First 25 Days of 2012!

My work has been steady over the past week, working on the bookkeepers I mentioned in last Wednesday's post...I completed a small collection of a variety of them, and I'm labeling them as different types of Quilted Book Saver Clutches... I also made another Simple Bag from my own tutorial, however, with some different structuring...but using the same basic design. I'm hoping to get most of these items posted to my Etsy store tomorrow. Also, hope to set up a link from here on the blog to the store, too.

But, now on to the pictures of my work...

This first one is a beauty...to me, because it's the one I made for me! ;)

Pretty star patchwork on the front, with great pinks and greens surrounding it....ooohhhh! Makes reading even more fun. I'm looking forward to making another on for my new Bible... a slight tea accident caused the hunt for a new Bible :)

Now for the Etsy products...
The Black and White Quilted Book Saver Clutch (Plain)
with a matching bookmark.

Next is a blue and green, subtle and earthy tones...
The Blue and Green Quilted Book Saver Clutch (Plain)
with a matching bookmark.

The following two items are what I was working on today...along with taking a lot of pictures and taking care of the girls :)

The Peach and Blue Quilted Book Saver Clutch (Ruffled)
with a matching bookmark.
This clutch turned out a little smaller that the other clutches...a little more square than rectangle.

And a matching bag...(however, they will be listed individually at the store)
The Simple Peach and Blue Ruffled Tote Bag.

And last, but not least...
The Black and White Quilted Book Saver Clutch (Patchwork)
with a matching bookmark.

Hope you have enjoyed this showcase of merchandise! Again, you can see them in my store :) I'll also try to keep things posted on the Facebook page if anyone is interesed in following there.

I'll be sharing my accomplishments with a few of the great linky parties, too.

UPDATE: I'm also adding this to Finish it up Friday...because I got most of them done this week :) and a great task done for me...I finally got items stocked on Etsy!

And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me,
for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;
1 Timothy 1:12

When I first read this verse tonight it made me think about being faithful, so that God can use us where He wants us, when He wants us there. But as I was typing it, it also struck me as a thankful verse just for the abilities God gives us. I am thankful for the ability to sew and the joy that comes with seeing it all come together.

Day 5 - Teaching Thursday...

Welcome to the fifth day of The First 25 Days of 2012... Today, I want to share a tutorial with you. It is an easy and adorable, simple bag. Great size for carrying piano books in.
I wrote up this tutorial in December for a friend that is just starting to sew and she wanted to make a couple for her younger sisters for Christmas. Her bags turned out beautifully...and she didn't ask any questions once she had the pattern, so I think this is definitely a great bag for a new sewer. (However, the making of the ruffles are NOT included in the directions...if  you want to make the ruffles and need help, don't hesitate to contact me!)

Since I did write this one up earlier, it is set up like a Word document turned into PDF format...so click here to go check it out! Some of my pictures are not the greatest...I'm going to try to work on that, but I did do a lot of pictures in the tutorial. And with it already in PDF, it's alot easier to print out :)

This seems like a great way to share a tutorial...I'd appreciate any feedback as to whether it is preferable to have a tutorial directly here on the blog or the link to a PDF. Thanks!

Let me know if you make the bag and what you think...I'd love to hear your comments!

Linking this one up to the great weekend linky parties...check them out for more crafting fun.

And the LORD said unto Satan,
Hast thou considered my servant Job,
that there is none like him in the earth,
a perfect and an upright man, on that feareth God,
and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity,
although thou movedst Me against him,
to destroy him without cause.
Job 2:3

The story of Job is not an unfamiliar one to me, but this morning I open my Bible to this passage and this crossed my mind...

God allowed Satan to do things against Job because God knew that Job was a faithful follower of Him. It made me think, if God had a choice of allowing hardships to occur to someone, would He be able to find me steadfast and faithful enough to choose me? Not that I want to experience trials, who does? But, would I be found to be able to withstand them as Job did so graciously? Trails are not always a punishment from God, they are also a trying of your faith and used to strengthen your trust in God.
