New Bible Case...

A new Bible case for my new Bible is completed! Yeah! The new Bible came the day after my birthday, but last weekend was a little busy, so I wasn't able to get started on the case till this week...so glad to get it done for this Sunday! And I'm able to finish it today for Finish it up Friday with Amanda Jean at crazy mom quilts.

My first dilemma was what design to make on the outside...I finally chose the Carpenter Wheel (Star) block. I also decided on a tan, pink, red combination of materials.
When I was first squaring my HST, I miss judged and one of them was a little off, but I used it anyway...but without realizing it - it ended up rather noticeable in the top left diamond.

Here is the flap side of the case...
Chad helped me decide on where to put the extra strip of material and how to quilt the block...love how it turned out!

Here is the inside. Above the pocket for my Bible and notebook is a small pocket for colored pencils to highlight with...
This is a picture of the entire back/outside...
I just noticed another piecing mishap in this picture, the far left diamond is off. Must not be as distracting in person!

I do love the materials!

Linking this up to the fun weekend parties...

But the word of the Lord endureth for ever.
And this is the word which by the gospel
is preached unto you.
1 Peter 1:25

God's Words, the Bible, will always endure...no matter how people do try to get rid of it. We learn and are taught by His Words...we should keep them protected and fight to preserve them.

Keeping His Words...

A WIP Report...

Hard to believe that for the first 25 days of the year I was able to keep up on a blog post a day...I guess, I've just kind of taken a short break :) but to get back to 'normal', here is this weeks Work In Progress Wednesday... with Lee from Freshly Pieced...post.

New Project...
New Bible Case. This is just one-half of the Carpenter Wheel block that I'm using as the main section of my Bible Case. The HST are sewn together, but they still need to be sewn into rows.
I also need to make the HST for the other half of the block. At first, I was going to just use it like this...as half a block - but I'm really, really liking the color flow and combination...so I'm going to make a whole block and go from there.

I love this block...probably why I like the Swoon block so well too! However, I'm not sure on the best way to quilt this block, any suggestions?

By Friday, I'd like to be finishing up the Bible case and starting work on the favors for our church's Valentine's banquet...making cute little 'pockets' I saw on Carlee's blog, Ladybird Ln. Using pink, brown, and tan materials (alot like the colors in the Bible case) to make them Valentine's like, but not SO Valentine's that they are only usable once a year.

Also, I was able to get the skirts finished...showed them on last Thursday's post.

Weekly wrap up...

New Projects: 2 [Bible Case, Valentine favors]
Completed Projects: 1 ['the three skirts']
Continuing Projects: 5 [Bible Case, Valentine favors, Liz's Sashed Postage Stamp Quilt, the Table Topper, and 'the lost' Quiet book]

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily,
as to the Lord, and not unto men;

Quick Cover...

Things are gearing up for school and I wanted a smaller binder to carry back and forth... I had a nice 1/2 inch cranberry one...except it has print stains, making it look bad!
So, I decided to remedy the situation with some fabric (after I decide not to just buy a new one)...This was a fast project that took about an hour this morning and is ready to get filled with science lessons!
Now onto a crayon holder for Liz... well, at least before school starts!

Remember to check out the crafty linky party buttons on the right side bar...pass the fun along!

A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches,
and loving favour rather than silver and gold.
Proverbs 22:1

Sometimes I can be a grump... I need to remember that the girls see me more than anyone and I need to have a good name with them as well as others.

I love when just flipping through the Bible leads to the verse you need!

Your Help...

This month on the Moda Bake Shop blog they are hosting a challenge to reproduce a previous recipie from a particular catagory. I have made a couple of Bible Covers using the idea of the Journal Covers. But now I'm not sure which one to enter.

This one is Liz's.

Then there is mine.

I need your help to decide which one to enter.
Liz's or mine (Amanda's)?
Leave me a comment to let me know which one you like better. I'll make my final decision in the middle of the month. Thanks for your help!!

The girls are adorable, but they just don't look at the camera at the same...so I picked the one where neither one was looking, yet they are still cute.

This morning I was going through my Bible and came across this passage...

Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord,
and whose hope the Lord is.
For he shall be as a tree planed by the waters,
and that spreadeth out her roots by the river,
and shall not see when heat cometh,
but her leaf shall be green;
and shall not be careful in the year of drought,
neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
The heart is deceitful above all things,
and desperately wicked; who can know it?
I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins,
even to give every man according to his ways,
and according to the fruit of his doings.
Jeremiah 17:7-10

I always enjoy reading about trees and water and the way God has created it all.

The Very First Post...

This is the very first post for my blog and I'm not quite sure what to begin with other than to say what a learning process this will be.

First, I'd like to show a picture of my beautiful family.
This is my loving husband Chad, my oldest daughter Lizzy, and Amber, the baby. Liz will be turning 3 tomorrow and Amber will be 4 months old on Saturday.

Now I'd like to show you what I made for Liz's birthday present. It is a Bible case. She received the Bible for Christmas and so now it has a cover. The idea came from seeing the stuff on Moda Bake Shop.

Maybe someday I'll be able to make up tutorials for some of my projects...

Amber during the crafting of Liz's gift...isn't she adorable, but then again, I am partial!

It was snowy here in Northwestern PA and so Chad took Liz out to finally bulid a snowman...most of the snow this year didn't pack well. But this past snow (hopefully the last) was packable, so last Friday they bulit him...
But today, less than a week later, he's only 1/4the snowman he was and grass is the only thing in sight.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
I hope you enjoyed the first post and will vist again soon.

Edited on June 12 to add the button picture for my blog.
